How to write a letter for your potential host family:
This letter should give a family a better picture of yourself , where you are coming from , your family traditions and so on. There are few ideas what you should mention in your letter :
* Do you have brothers and sisters ? How old are they , what do they do, what they like ?
* How old are you parents , what do they do what kind of relationship you have with them ?
* Do you have families meeting , do you talk to you relatives or you leave far away from them ?
* What kind of activities does your family on weekends , do you together for holiday or you have a summer house where you spend most summer ?
* What is your role in a family ? Do you help with younger siblings , housework , cooking or pets ?
* Are you an organised person or more casual ? ( Be careful what you are putting here - being tidy does not necessary mean a good thing . Some families don't like aupair to organise them , some are irritated by untidy person . This is the most common problem in relationship between family and aupair , so be honest ! )
* Can you describe yourself ? Are shy , introvert , calm , very active , etc ?
* What have you done so far like attend a college , wining some competition , being a member of some organisation , travel and etc ?
* Why do you want to be an aupair ?
* What experience do you have of looking after children ?
* Do you think you will be able to cope without our family , friends , girlfriend/boyfriend ?
* Have you ever lived away from home ?
* What do you want to gain from aupair experience ?
* What are your future plans ?

Dear Family,
My name is Mary and I am a female American student from the University of Michigan, currently studying in Paris. I would very much like to find a nice family to live with and work for in Ile-de-France. My first language is, of course, English, but I also speak an advanced level of French and am doing coursework at the Sorbonne. I have been babysitting for over 8 years and would be happy to provide recommendations from previous families.
I would also like to say that I sincerely enjoy spending time with children and am quite easy to get along with. I have worked with a wide age range of kids , from newborns to young adults, and find each group has its own special qualities. I myself enjoy playing outdoors, going for walks, and visiting museums, all of which I would be happy to do with the children , as appropriate. I am also trained in fine arts and would love to do drawing and painting activities with them as well. Most of all, I love to read, and find this is one of the most important parts of growing up. At my home university, I serve as an English tutor to other students and have done course work in teaching and explaining English grammar.
About me: I am a student at the University of Michigan double majoring in History and Art History. I love the arts and enjoy visiting museums and galleries throughout Paris in my spare time. I love to learn, and also love to teach. I enjoy drawing and painting. At my home university, I write arts-related articles for our newspaper, and am also a trained English tutor for fellow college students. I like going for walks and generally being outside.
As far as preferences, I am looking for a live-in arrangement, either with the family or in a separate appartment - whichever is available. I would also prefer evening childcare hours, although I am quite flexible.

Dear Family,
My name is Karolina Klebanska. I am 21 years old. I have got big family. I live with parents and two brothers. We live in a flat in Szczecin, a big town on the North-West coast of Poland. My parents work in Polish Railways. My mother's name is Krystyna, she is a clerk. My father's name is Krzysztof, he is a specialist of reparation of carriages. My older brother's name is Kamil, he is 23 and he is a student of University of Szczecin. My younger brother's name is Konrad, he is 16 and he is a pupil of grammar-school. I love my family very much. We spend a lot of time together. We like travelling, especially visiting our big family in many cities of Poland. We have got big garden and when it's warm on weekends we usually do a little barbecue or grill with family and friends.
I'm a student of Technical University of Szczecin. I study Management and Production Engineering.
I am interested in computers. I love sport very much, first of all swimming, playing volleyball, gymnastics , cycling and skiing. I love travelling and visiting new places. I have visited many countries and become acquainted new cultures.
I have got boyfriend and many friends and we enjoy spending a lot of time together. We often go to the parties, cinema or theathre. We like our holidays to be action-packed. We usually spend some time on the sea and some time in the Tatra Mountains.
I work in the promotion agency "Sigma" and usually on weekends I work in big supermarkets in Szczecin as a hostess. I recommend articles of consumption of popular companies and firms, give samples to people and try to sell a lot of articles.
In addition I work in "School of foreign languages" and I give English lessons to seven-years old children at Primary School. They are in two groups. I have got four classes a week. WE sing songs, play games, draw and learn new words during it.
I looked after and helped in guard children in two families. During my employment ( babysitter or aupair or nanny ) I did a lot of professions with children and at employer's home, for example playing, reading, taking a walk, washing children, dressing children, feeding, bringing the choldren to bed and also cleaning up, ironing, doing laundry, washing dishes, preparing snacks, buying groceries, helping with cooking and vacuming.
This all professions which a mentioned I was doing in employer's house I do in my home with my mother a few times a week.
In the future when I will have finished my study, I would like have my own computer bussiness and also still teach children at school.

Dear Family,
Thank you for your interest in me. My name is Oana and I am 24 years old. I am single, have no kids and never been married. I live in Romania, Bucharest, with my brother, Bogdan, who is 26 years old and works as an engineer.
My parents still live in my natal town, Onesti, which is located 300 km from Bucharest, where they have a small business (manufacturing baby cloths) and we see each other every two or three weeks, as we are very close, especially me and my mother, who I consider my best friend, my confident.
Things aren't going too well in the eastern Europe and even if I work for an international company, Villeroy&Boch, as sales representative, my wage is not eno ugh and I decided to find a new job - babysitter oraupair or nanny - that combine my desire to travel, see and experience new things and ways of living with the possibility of using my strong communication skills, the ability to work excellent with people, to learn fast, to be a good organizer, to be an active person and adaptable to different environments and requirements.
Why children and babysitter or aupair or nanny ? Maybe because a part of my soul is still like a child my opinion is that if we want to have serenity in our lives and keep our heart young, we should fill out our time also with children smiles, with their strange, funny questions, but very intelligent sometimes.
I think children should never been underestimated, as they need to be treated with respect and taken seriously. I enjoy spending time with them, entertaining them and helping with their age problems and curiosity.
My childcare - babysitter or aupair or nanny experience involves relatives, for example my God sun, Rares Mihai, who is 7 years old now. I used to take care of him during my last summer holidays, as his parents and my parents live in the same building. We spent almost every day together, going to my grandparents in the countryside, visiting the Zoo from our park, playing different games, especially those that stimulates thinking, as playing means learning too. Sometimes we talk over phone about school and his classmates, about subjects matters that he finds interesting, about his marks.
My first language is Romanian. I also speak English, Italian, some French and now I learn German, at the Schiller Kulturhaus in Bukarest.
I consider myself an optimistic person, and I try to see the positive side of every situation. I am very kind and I like to treat people with respect, consideration and be treated likewise of course. I like learning,
traveling and attending concerts. I especially love to read; some books mean a lot to me and I end up having read those many times.
I love all kinds of music: modern, classic, jazz, ethnic and new age. I like art in general, also to visit historical monuments. I prefer to spend my weekends and free time in nature, relaxing, doing sport, riding bike, running, going to the movies, hanging out with friends etc. Shortly this is me.
Anyway I think words are not enough to describe something such complex as a person. I tried in a few words to describe opinions and interests, but words are not enough sometimes, what matters is meeting the person. I would like to work in Austria, because my cousine, Camelia lives with her family in Graz for ten years and I have spent my last two holidays in this wonderful region.
