Dear prospective host family ,
My name is Bonnie. I have devoted my life to children , volunteerism, education and family . One word that best describes me is *Jovial* ! Every morning I wake up & choose to live each moment to its fullest.
I simply adore teaching, playing, nurturing, befriending & learning from all people, especially children . I believe a healthy family environment is the most important aspect of a childs upbringing. Imagination & confidence are the key to a persons success and those traits should be initiated & nurtured by ones family . I was raised by a very open-minded & supportive family whose fundamentals encouraged freedom of expression, with an emphasis on respect. I was taught to follow my dreams but to do so responsibly, as I hope to pass onto your children .
Im a family girl . They are my core support & inspiration. I find it necessary to involve myself in everything that sparks my interests ( i.e: theatre, dance, volunteering, lectures, books, etc ). I am a very positive, productive, passionate, compassionate, creative & responsible individual, but my ability to share my love for life is my favorite quality.
I was raised in Denver, Colorado, USA. Ever since I was 3 I have wanted my profession to involve theatre. I attended Denver School of the Arts (DSA) as a Theatre major for 7 yrs. Some of the nominations & awards I received were Most Creative, Professional, & Dedicated Actor. Many have stated that these traits have been present in my other undertakings.
I have been an active certified babysitter for 7 yrs. In the summer of 04 I was a nanny for 2 boys, ages 4 & 6. As a nanny , in the mornings we did workbooks & played academic games to keep their studies spark. In the afternoons we could have playtime; tons of *make believe*. I intentionally planned activities, which would boost the boys confidence & creativity. They were a lot to handle but we had an absolute blast. From the summer of 01-03 I was the assistant director & counselor at the DSA Children's Theatre Summer Camp. In the summer of 05 I was the makeup designer, counselor & after hours care giver for Rocky Mountain Theater for Kids .
I just concluded my service with AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC): 18-24 yr olds working 10 months on community service projects across the US in the areas of Education, Environmental Restoration, Public Safety, Unmet Human Needs & Disaster Relief. I want community service to forever be a part of my life. In Sep 05 I received a month of NCCC training. Some of our classes included American Red Cross First Aid & CPR, Disaster Relief & Recovery, & Diversity Training. Each member of a team had a specific position & I was chosen as our Media Representative. Our first project was in Louisiana, with Operation Blue Roof (tarpping damaged roofs from Hurricane Katrina).
Next we returned to California & worked at the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services, where we tutored children , distributed emergency baby supplies, supplied clothing & food for those in need, & helped battered women heal through art. Then we went back to Louisiana to facilitate the construction of 18 homes w/ Habitat for Humanity. Next I worked in a Special Education Class in Oregon, headed up a school-wide Incentive Program & ran the after school program. I was accepted onto the Gulf Liaison Team (AmeriCorps admin. assist. for the state of Mississippi), where I specializing in all aspects of Community Relations and was an operative contributor to many other aspects of Disaster Relief. I graduated having earned the Congressional Award, Presidential Award, Team Motivator Award & a nomination for the Totally Commitment Award. It was a life changing experience.
After visiting home, I moved to London in Sep 06 as an aupair for an absolutely fantastic family of 5 children (ages 1-11). Now they truly are another family branch and are happy to have me back anytime. On my spare time I took courses in dance, volunteered at a Soup Kitchen, read tons & took advantage of the theatre.
I am presently in New Rochelle, NY as a short-term au pair & am looking for another family in or very near to Manhattan. I am additionally seeking summer aupair ships in Paris, Rome and Madrid.
During this year I will apply for scholarships, volunteer w/ the local community, involve myself in theatre (take up an internship), & most importantly become a part of another family .
If interested please drop me a note directly. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely, Bonnie
